Repowering Onshore Wind Seminar
Speaker presentations from the seminar are now available below. The Repowering Onshore Wind briefing, released by Scottish Renewables in collaboration with RenewableUK and Energy UK, is also available.
Nearly three decades on from the commissioning of Scotland’s first commercial onshore wind farm, a growing number of projects are approaching their end-of-life point. With The Scottish Government committing to both 20GW of onshore wind by 2030 and to a circular economy, the industry must step up to the challenge of becoming a maturing industry where repowering becomes the norm.
Key questions will need to be answered on how we deal with our decommissioned turbines, retain their valuable materials within our industry and grasp the opportunity to become a world leader in circularity and remanufacturing in a world where competition for resources will only increase.
In this seminar, leading experts share key insights into the business development opportunities presented by decommissioning, life extension and repowering and how Scotland can use first-mover advantage to secure a position as a global centre of expertise.
