Christine McGregor
Managing Director, BayWa r.e.
Christine McGregor is Managing Director of BayWa r.e. UK Limited. She started her journey at BayWa r.e. as Legal Counsel and Project Manager before becoming Head of Commercial, where she was leading both the legal and valuation teams for the UK and Ireland Projects business. Christine qualified as a lawyer in 2010 and graduated from the University of Aberdeen. Christine sits on the post-Brexit policy working group and the equality and diversity committee of the Law Society of Scotland.
Mel Shanker
Legal Affairs Director & Company Secretary, EDF Renewables
Mel is the Director of Legal Affairs and Company Secretary for EDF Renewables UK & Ireland (EDFR UK& I) and a member of EDFR’s Executive Team. She leads EDFR’s team of legal, governance, company secretarial and insurance specialists across the UK and Ireland.
Mel has over 17 years of experience working in the low-carbon investment sector. She started her career in the field of environment and climate change at the UN Environment Program in Nairobi as an intern in the Environmental Law branch of UNEP’s Policy Development and Law division. She then worked as Counsel to green investment manager Climate Change Capital in London, developing international emissions reduction and carbon credit projects for 5 years. Mel was then with Linklaters in London for 7 years, where her practice focused on energy, environment and climate change projects and transactions.
Prior to joining EDFR, she was the General Counsel of Pivot Power, a start-up founded to develop a network of grid-scale batteries and electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the UK which was acquired by EDFR at the end of 2019.
Mel has a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney.Morag Watson
Director of Policy, Scottish Renewables
Morag is Scottish Renewables’ Director of Policy. Her work involves overseeing Scottish Renewables’ policy function and key projects within Scotland’s leading renewables trade body, working on behalf of 300+ organisations to grow Scotland’s renewable energy sector and sustain its position at the forefront of the global clean energy industry.
Morag has worked in policy for nearly 20 years and was previously a Senior Policy Officer with WWF Scotland, specialising in climate change, sustainable development and sustainability leadership.
