Rainer Broering

Industrialization and Supply Chain Strategy Leader, GE

Rainer Broering is the Global Supply Chain Industrialization and Strategy Leader for GE`s Offshore Wind business. In addition Rainer is the Managing Director for the GE Renewable GmbH in Germany, He is in his current role since closing the Alstom Acquisition in November 2015. Before that he was part of the GE team performing the due diligence on the Alstom Acquisition and defined for the Renewable integration the Supply chain strategy.

Before that he had responsibility as Operations and Supply Chain Leader Flow and Process Technology Europe & AIM . He moved into that position in March 2012. Rainer joined the F&PT business form the GE Renewable business where he was working since 17 years. His previous role was Managing Director Wind Germany, GSCM Leader Wind + Digital Energy Europe

Rainer was Managing Director of GE’s wind business in Germany. He moved to this position in 2005. Since 2002, he has also been Supply Chain Leader including Sourcing for the wind business in Europe, since 2011 also for the Digital Energy business in Europe. Previous to this role, he was Manager Material and Production at Enron Wind.

Mandy Gloyer

New UK Offshore Sites Manager, ScottishPower Renewables

Mandy Gloyer is the New UK Sites Manager (Offshore) with ScottishPower Renewables (SPR). She leads SPR’s input to the ScotWind and Round 4 leasing rounds. Mandy has been with ScottishPower Renewables since 2009, holding roles in policy, stakeholder and community engagement.

With a background in environmental and planning policy, Mandy was previously Head of Land Use Policy for the RSPB in Scotland, and has also held roles as Environmental Adviser with the National Farmers’ Union (England and Wales) and with the Countryside Agency, the predecessor body to Natural England.

Fabrice Leveque

Senior Policy Manager, Scottish Renewables

Fabrice is a senior policy manager at Scottish Renewables, covering large scale energy generation. He works to ensure a supportive policy environment to enable the industry to keep growing and enable a transition to a cleaner, low-carbon economy.

Fabrice was previously a policy lead at WWF and WWF Scotland, campaigning to improve climate change and energy policy with a particular focus on the built environment. Prior to this he worked for a Westminster think-tank looking at the future of the electricity system. He has also worked in the solar industry, designing and selling PV and thermal systems across the South of England.

Claire Mack

Chief Executive, Scottish Renewables

Claire has been Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, the representative voice of Scotland’s renewable energy industry, since October 2017. She is responsible for leading the organisation’s work to grow Scotland’s renewables sector and sustain its position at the forefront of the global clean energy industry.

Claire is a member of the First Minister’s Energy Advisory Board and the Renewables Industry Advisory Group, co-chaired by Scotland’s Energy Minister.

Before joining Scottish Renewables, Claire was Director of Policy and Place at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry. She has previously worked in various roles at Ofcom in Scotland, focusing on economic regulation of telecoms, radio spectrum and the mail market while also looking at developing digital participation of individuals and businesses.

Prior to this Claire worked in retail and the construction industry as well as on regulation of regional broadcasting in the Borders and North East of England.

David Pratt

Head of Planning & Strategy, Marine Scotland

David Pratt is the Head of Planning & Strategy at Marine Scotland, the Directorate of Scottish Government with responsibility for the management of Scotland’s Seas. His role involves oversight of a number of Scottish Government marine planning initiatives including the National Marine Plan, Regional Marine Plans, and a number of related marine strategies such as those to address litter and non-native species in the Scottish marine environment. Prior to this, David project managed the development of Sectoral Marine Plans for Offshore Renewable Energy, a process for which he still retains strategic oversight. A geographer by background, David has further qualifications in Energy & Environmental Management as well as Environmental Law. He is a Full Member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment in addition to being a Chartered Environmentalist.

Isla Robb

Forth & Tay Offshore Cluster Lead, Scottish Enterprise

Isla Robb Leads engagement in the Wind Energy sector within Scottish Enterprise. As part of this Isla has been working with the clusters in Scotland and currently leads the Forth & Tay cluster.

Passionate about offshore wind and ensuring that the fantastic companies in Scotland reach their full capabilities within this sector, and are afforded every opportunity to them.

Originally trained as a Building Surveyor, Isla has had a varied career in the private & public sector both in the UK & abroad. Isla currently manages Offshore Wind Expert Support within Scottish Enterprise.

Jim Smith

Managing Director, SSE Renewables

After graduating as Mechanical Engineer in 1983, Jim spent five years in power plant and automotive turbomachinery design. Jim joined SSE and its predecessors 27 years ago. During this time Jim has been involved in large scale power generation project development and construction including hydro, wind, gas, coal, gas storage and power transmission projects. He also spent time as Engineering Manager for the Company’s hydro generation fleet and was Station Manager at Peterhead Power Station.

In recent years Jim was Managing Director, Renewable Development, responsible for the development and construction of wind power projects on and offshore. In April 2014, Jim moved to Energy Portfolio Management, covering Energy Trading and Contracts, Risk Management and Planning and the upstream E&P business and latterly the role included responsibility for Business Energy in the retail supply market. From April 2016 Jim took up his current role with operational responsibility for SSE generation, gas storage and E&P assets. In November 2018 Jim was appointed Managing Director of SSE Renewables, a new division which will be responsible for the Development Constitution and Operation of all of SSE’s renewable activity.

Benj Sykes

UK Country Manager - Offshore, Ørsted

Benj is UK Country Manager for Ørsted’s Offshore Wind business. After setting up the Asset Management business with P&L responsibility for Ørsted’s portfolio of operational windfarms across NW Europe, he is now focussed on strengthening the company’s business platform in the UK, currently the world’s largest offshore wind market. He co-chairs the Offshore Wind Industry Council alongside the Energy Minister, and led the work to agree a programme of activities and commitments between industry and government through the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, to support the continued growth of the sector. He is also on the Board of G+, providing Health and Safety leadership for the offshore wind sector. He currently serves on the government-appointed Advisory Panel on Highly Protected Marine Areas.

Benj joined Ørsted from the Carbon Trust where as Director of Innovation he led the company's multi-million pound technology innovation programme across a wide range of novel low carbon technologies for both power generation and energy efficiency.

Before moving into the low carbon sector, Benj worked in the upstream oil and gas industry, most recently at Hess Corporation, a Fortune 100 Oil and Gas company. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society and the Energy Institute.

Allan Taylor

Head of Renewables Supply Chain, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

Allan started in BEIS (then DTI) as an oil and gas taxation accountant before moving to his current post, heading up supply chain policy for offshore wind and leading on the implementation of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal.

Lorna Archer

Project Officer in Energy Futures, SGN

Lorna has tailored her experience and career to the energy sector covering multidiscipline areas and working on key projects. From starting in an education role in the Levenmouth Community Energy Project, Lorna gained knowledge and skills in low carbon technologies, project delivery and communications. Moving onto offshore wind within Fife Council’s Economic Development team, she was introduced to energy at a regional and national level. Now working for SGN, she has immersed herself in the gas sector and is involved in key projects of the Energy Futures team including H100, which is evidencing the safe, secure and reliable distribution of 100% hydrogen in the gas networks. Lorna has come to SGN with a background in energy and engagement. With knowledge of hydrogen applications in storage, power and transport, as well as renewables and energy systems, she is now working on key heat decarbonisation projects within the Energy Futures team at SGN.

Zoe Barnes

Strategy Manager, Quaybridge

Zoe has been working in renewable energy since 2002, initially in R&D for a wind turbine OEM, before moving onto technical and strategic consultancy. Presently she is working for Quaybridge, a new offshore wind developer leading developments in Scotland. She has led a wide range of strategic engagements for industry and public sector participants in both onshore and offshore wind and wider energy strategy but her passion lies in seeing new technology come to market, to enable progression of the renewables sector.

Keith Bell

Committee Member, Committee on Climate Change

Keith Bell holds the ScottishPower Chair in Smart Grids at the University of Strathclyde, is a co-Director of the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) and, since April 2019, is a member of the Committee on Climate Change. He is also one of the Scientific Directors of the Electrical Infrastructure Research Hub, a collaboration between the universities of Strathclyde and Manchester and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. A Chartered Engineer, he has led many research projects in collaboration with academic and industrial partners and is involved with The IET Power Academy and the Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques (CIGRE). In recent years, he has given advice on electricity system issues to the Scottish Government, Ofgem, the UK government’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and the Government of Ireland.

Stephanie Conesa

Policy Manager, Scottish Renewables

Stephanie is a policy manager at Scottish Renewables, focussing on large scale renewable energy generation. She leads the organisation’s planning and consents work, working toward securing the optimum planning framework for the growth of onshore and offshore renewables at the national, regional and local level in Scotland.

As part of her role, Stephanie has regular engagement with key decision makers and represents the industry across a range of government and agency groups on members’ behalf.

Prior to joining Scottish Renewables Stephanie worked for a renewable energy developer, managing the organisation’s policy positions as well as leading its licensing and consenting process.

Adam Ezzamel

Project Director - Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, Red Rock Power Limited

Adam joined the Inch Cape offshore wind farm development in late 2019 and will lead the team as it continues to move towards construction. He comes from an engineering background and brings over 10 years of valuable renewables experience, most recently working on projects such as Aberdeen Bay and Neart na Gaiothe.

Mike Hay

Commercial Director, RIDG

Mike is Co-Founder and Commercial Director of RIDG, a Scottish offshore wind project development company, and a Director of Scottish Renewables. Over 16 years, across both the public and private sector, Mike has led and contributed to a series of high profile, industry-enabling projects that have helped make the UK the world leader in offshore wind it is today. This includes leading the industry position on Round 3 at Renewable UK, designing and delivering the Offshore Wind Accelerator at the Carbon Trust, winning and developing the Hornsea Zone at Mainstream Renewable Power and delivering the UK Government’s supply chain objectives as a Sector Specialist at the Department for International Trade. He holds an MA(Hons) from the University of Aberdeen, an MSc from Imperial College London and is an APM qualified project manager.

Andy Hogg

Head of Energy Industries Division, Scottish Government

Andrew has been the Deputy Director of Energy Industries since January 2019 having previously served as the Head of Oil and Gas Policy.

Andrew is responsible for electricity and networks policy, large scale renewables, hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage, oil & gas, decommissioning, and industrial decarbonisation. He has a wealth of experience across public policy, the Government Economic Service and private sector accountancy roles.

In 2005, he completed a Masters in Economic Management and Policy, Economics from University of Strathclyde.

Zoë Keeton

Head of Regulation and Energy Policy, innogy Renewables UK Limited

Zoë has almost 30 years’ energy industry experience in both private and government sectors. Most recently, she was actively involved in the industry’s negotiation of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal on behalf of the Offshore Wind Industry Council working group. Previously, she established the government’s first Aviation Management Board, addressing the impacts of wind farms on radar, has chaired working groups on planning and noise, and redesigned npower’s fuel poverty programmes.

Zoë is also the diversity champion for innogy Renewables in the UK, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across the business, and is a member of the RenewableUK Board.

Christianna Logan

Director of Customers and Stakeholders, Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks Transmission

Christianna has spent over ten years in the energy industry on strategy, business development and futures. Christianna and her team work to deliver a net zero future by connecting and supporting low carbon generators across the north of Scotland and helping Stakeholders achieve best outcomes from the energy system.

Dr Callum MacIver

Programme Manager - Electrical Infrastructure Research Hub, University of Strathclyde

Graduated with an M.Eng. degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in 2010 and a Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Strathclyde as part of the university’s Wind Energy Systems Centre for Doctoral Training. Since then he has continued working as a Research Associate in the Advanced Electrical Systems group where his research interests include the design and reliability of future offshore HVDC networks, the market and regulatory issues around offshore transmission infrastructure in Europe and the operation of low inertia power systems. In addition, he now acts as the university Programme Manager for the Offshore Electrical Infrastructure Research Hub, a 5-year collaboration with the University of Manchester and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.

Colin Maciver

Development Manager Crown Estate Scotland

Colin Maciver has been with Crown Estate Scotland since early 2018 and is a manager in the Energy and Infrastructure team; leading on development phase activities for offshore wind and delivery of ScotWind Leasing. Prior to that his experience in commercial scale project development, consenting, policy, and government affairs was gained in a range of sectors such as transport, mining, and energy.

Lorraine Monaghan

Interface Manager, K2 Management

Lorraine Monaghan is the Interface Manager at K2 Management, ensuring high-quality Analysis deliverables into Due Diligence projects for onshore, offshore and operational wind farms, as well as project managing global due diligence assignments. Lorraine’s experience spans both pre-construction and operational wind farm analysis, having worked in the wind industry since 2007 after completing a PhD in Physics. She has led wind resource and energy yield assessments on some of the largest onshore and offshore development projects in the UK and Ireland through her roles in renewables consultancies and a large UK utility.

Nick Sharpe

Director of Communications & Strategy, Scottish Renewables

Nick Sharpe is Scottish Renewables’ Director of Communications & Strategy. His work involves overseeing Scottish Renewables’ media and public affairs work and liaising between the organisation’s member companies, the media and other stakeholders to promote positive news about the sector to diverse audiences.

A former journalist, Nick trained on the South Wales Echo then spent seven years at the Sun, latterly as Chief Reporter.

He then spent a year at Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s largest public relations consultancies.

At Scottish Renewables he’s also responsible for aspects of marketing and all the organisation’s social media.

Gavin Smart

Head of Insights, ORE Catapult

Gavin Smart joined ORE Catapult in April 2014 and holds the post of Head of Analysis & Insights. He is responsible for leading the financial and economic analysis for all ORE Catapult external-facing and internal projects. He has authored and co-authored a number of influential industry studies across offshore wind, floating wind and marine energy. Gavin has also spent three years as a Senior Investment Analyst, preparing and reviewing offshore wind business cases for ScottishPower Renewables, and previously worked as a Valuation & Business Modelling consultant in the Middle East for Ernst & Young, engaged in projects covering a variety of industries.

Mark Timmons

Offshore Bid Manager, SSE Renewables

Mark was the Offshore Bid Manager for SSE’s Seagreen offshore windfarm. Mark has been in the offshore wind industry for over 9 years and is experienced in Offshore Wind Auctions, Supply Chain Strategy and Transaction Services. He is a Chartered Accountant and previously worked in a global accountancy practice providing corporate finance and audit services to major public and private companies.

Martyn Tulloch

Net Zero Solution Centre Manager, OGTC

Martyn leads the Net Zero Solution Centre and is passionate about ensuring that the oil and gas industry helps enable the transition to a low carbon future: “the skills, experience and infrastructure established over the last four decades in NE Scotland and the wider UK oil and gas industry will have a pivotal role to play if we are to meet our net-zero targets.”

A chartered engineer who has worked in both the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors over the last 20 years, Martyn works tirelessly to support the development of technologies that create employment and export opportunities while simultaneously tackling the greatest challenge of our age.

Away from work Martyn enjoys coaching his two primary school age sons’ football and rugby teams, reading, running and spending time with friends and family.
