Planning Conference 2025

27 May 2025 | Glasgow

Scottish Renewables is delighted to announce the return of the Planning Conference to Glasgow.

The publication of the UK Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan in December marked the beginning of a new era of energy planning. While a public statement on how much clean power generation, storage and transmission infrastructure we will need by 2030 is welcome, questions remain about how this will be delivered with planning and consenting at the forefront of this challenge.

Two years after the adoption of National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4), the planning landscape continues to evolve in response to the challenges of delivering net-zero. As we push to accelerate the consenting process, planned changes to the Electricity Act (1989), varying interpretations of NPF4 policies and emerging Local Development Plans are creating a volatile and contentious mix of challenges.

Join us at the Planning Conference 2025 to hear from leading experts and policymakers as we discuss these changes and what they mean for your projects.

You'll learn:

  • How various policy changes interact and what this means for the Scottish Government’s commitment to accelerating planning
  • What is and isn’t working in the planning system, and the key actions needed from government and industry to fix it
  • What is being done to speed up planning timelines and what you can learn from it
  • About the planning challenges for new technologies and how projects can navigate them
