Plenary 1 - Finding a Route to Market
The Scottish Government's draft Energy Strategy prioritises securing a route to market for onshore wind.
With no funding allocated to Established Technologies in the second Contracts for Difference auction, developments are having to explore new, innovative routes to market.
Join this opening session of the conference to debate how the regulatory framework can help support the industry meet the challenge posed by the Scottish Government and hear about the innovative solutions which are already being developed.
Chair and Welcome:
Niall Stuart, Chief Executive, Scottish Renewables
Speakers:
Peter Sherry, Senior Manager, Baringa Partners
Fiona Hepplewhite, Policy Manager, ScottishPower Renewables
Richard Braakenburg, Director of Distributed Energy & Onshore Renewables, Green Investment Bank

Plenary 2 - Improving the Network
Over the last twelve months Scottish Renewables has responded to a range of consultations focussed on improving regulation to ensure that our electricity network operates in a way that is smarter and more flexible. This session will reflect on this recent experience and explore the key threats and opportunities that proposed reform could create for the onshore wind industry.

Plenary 3 - Ministerial Address
The draft Energy Strategy and accompanying Onshore Wind Policy Statement make clear the Scottish Government’s continued strong support for renewable energy development, and in particular onshore wind. In doing so, they also set industry a challenge: to develop, in Scotland, the UK’s first commercial wind farm without subsidy.
Join this session to hear from Scotland’s Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy about that challenge and how the Energy Strategy can help secure a sustainable, long-term future for onshore wind in Scotland.
Chair:
Niall Stuart, Chief Executive, Scottish Renewables
Keynote Address:
Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy, Scottish Government

Plenary 4 - Planning and Communities
The Scottish Government’s forthcoming Planning Bill looks set to introduce significant changes to the planning system in Scotland. Coupled with the proposals outlined in the draft Onshore Wind Policy Statement and new targets for community and locally owned renewables, this could mean a radical overhaul of the way onshore wind is consented and developed. This session will look at those changes and their potential impact on the industry.
