Terms and Conditions of Membership
- Member and Associate subscription fees are quoted exclusive of VAT and are payable annually in advance.
- Applications for Member and Associate status within Scottish Renewables will be subject to approval by the Board of Directors or other such membership group as the board approves. Scottish Renewables reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant and is not obliged to disclose the reasons for refusal. Scottish Renewables reserves the right to refuse membership at any specific category of membership.
- Scottish Renewables reserves the right to modify or alter the membership and associate fees and benefit structure at any time. The receipt of a completed membership application form does not constitute a formal offer or contract of membership, until such application is approved by the board.
- Organisation size is based upon the number of employees. Where an organisation is a wholly owned subsidiary or part of a group of companies, the organisation size is taken as the total employee numbers for the group. The category of sole trader is available only to those organisations registered legally as a sole trader.
- Where a Member changes category by nature of size during any annual membership period, that member will be required to change its membership status only at the beginning of the new membership period.
- Scottish Renewables reserves the right to refuse renewal of membership at any time to a member or associate who:
- fails to pay by the required time any fees due, either for annual subscription or for any event, publication or other service provided by Scottish Renewables.
- misrepresents Scottish Renewables, brings Scottish Renewables into disrepute or acts in any manner deemed inappropriate by the Scottish Renewables board of directors. - Joining Scottish Renewables as either Member or Associate does not imply endorsement of any kind by Scottish Renewables. Members and Associates may not at any time use Scottish Renewables membership in promotional activities or to endorse any activity or product without prior written consent.
- As Scottish Renewables is based on consensus from all Members, Scottish Renewables does not guarantee to represent the individual interests of any company or organisation at any time.
- The Members benefits as set out in the application form are indicative only and Scottish Renewables does not guarantee to provide all benefits at all times and reserves the right to change the benefit structure from time to time as decided by the board of directors.
- Scottish Renewables membership year shall run from the 1 October – 30 September. Members will be charged pro-rata for their membership depending on when they join in the Scottish Renewables Membership year. Scottish Renewables reserves the right to amend the membership year and to amend application procedures at any time.
- Members and Associates will be invoiced annually for their membership of Scottish Renewables. Members will have 30 days from the due date of their membership renewal invoice or receipt of their invoice (whichever is later) to notify us in writing if they do not wish to continue membership. Any member that does not notify us in this period of their intention to cancel membership and which subsequently informs us that they do not wish to continue as a member will be liable for the proportion of the annual membership fee for the period between the start of the membership year and the date that the member informed Scottish Renewables in writing of their intention to cease membership.
- Payment of the annual subscription must be received within 30 days of the invoice being sent to the Member/Associate. If payment is not received within 60 days the full annual subscription will still be due but all member benefits will be suspended. If payment is subsequently made then there will be no extension of member benefits to cover the period during which member benefits were terminated.
- If payment is not received within 90 days then membership will be terminated until payment is made in full. If payment is subsequently made then there will be no extension of member benefits to cover the period during which member benefits were terminated.
- Scottish Renewables demands that all our staff and members are treated with dignity and respect at all times. We will not tolerate bullying or harassment of any kind, nor discrimination of any type on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age by our staff team, members or guests. Any instances of this type of conduct by member companies’ representatives will result in an appropriate sanction against the member company or individual, which may include expulsion from membership or exclusion from events.
- When processing your application for membership, Scottish Renewables will activate members benefits for you and any colleagues associated with the organisation applying for membership. Contact details for colleagues may already exist on our database, where they are stored in accordance with our privacy policy, or colleagues may choose to sign up via our website after the membership application has been processed. We store the data of and contact employees of Scottish Renewables member companies to fulfil our contractual obligation to them in accordance with our privacy policy.
