NESO advice on achieving clean power by 2030
The National Energy System Operator (NESO) has publishd its blueprint for achieving clean power in Great Britain by 2030.
Responding, Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said:
“This analysis from NESO on how we can achieve clean power by 2030 offers a welcome line of sight for our industry and both the Scottish and UK governments.
“The renewable energy industry knows it will need to overcome significant challenges to achieve this milestone but the message is clear, we need to double down on the build out of our networks and deliver as many clean energy projects as possible.
“As the report has rightly identified, a renewables-based energy system will be more secure and affordable and alongside an effective industrial strategy, we can maximise the reach of the wider economic and social benefits from Scotland’s renewable energy pipeline.
“The next 12 months will be pivotal if we are to make the progress needed on NESO’s advice, from connections and planning reform to supply chain and workforce development.
"During this period, it will be essential for both the UK and Scottish governments to steer policy in a way that secures the vital investment needed to underpin our future energy system.”
