Queens Quay water source heat pump

The UK's first large-scale, high-temperature water source heat pump opened in Clydebank in 2020, taking heat from the River Clyde and using it to warm homes and businesses.

The 5.2MW device, manufactured by Star Renewable Energy in Glasgow, is part of the Queens Quay development of up to 1000 new homes and 500,000 sq ft of commercial buildings. The system delivers both hot water and heat through a 2.5km network of underground pipes to the development, which includes Clydebank Town Hall and West College Scotland.
